With a "beautiful" setting "right on the beach", this island spot may "not be super-fancy", but it offers "nice views of the ocean" from some of the "recently upgraded" rooms, along with a "helpful and friendly" staff; still, a portion of patrons pouts over the "rather plain pool area", the "surprise mandatory resort fee", the "too-costly" meals and the "traffic going to and from the hotel."

Hotel charged $12.00 extra for amenities such as phone, cots, fax, on top of room price. Things we did not ask for.
All was very nice except when they announced there was a fee of 12 dollars extra for things such as the coffee in room , wireless, fax, extra cot etc. Many of the things we did not ask for and did not use. Please check on this. I had quite an argument with them about this. ...read more

Difficult to control temperature settings with the air conditioner; pool was very cold!
Great hotel for the money. We were upgraded to an ocean view room and given a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon. It really is a great place to stay if you're planning on heading to the North side of the island but want to avoid the ridiculous prices up there. We stayed here for 3 nights and in Poipu for 4 nights. Relaxed atmosphere; mix of couples and families with small children. Staff very courteous. Unfortunate that you're not able to swim in the ocean though due to rough waters. Air conditioning OK but not great- musty smelling initially but improved in a few hours. ...read more
